The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union represents a true catalog of fundamental rights and freedoms, it is a document adopted at the level of the European Union, currently has binding legal force, being incorporated into the Treaty on European Union, as revised by the Treaty of Lisbon (signed on 13 December 2007, entered into force and taking effect on 1 December 2009).
